Horizon (2016)

A study in an immersive and interactive dance performance that invites its audience to contemplate: What if you could gaze upon someone indefinitely?

This project serves as an exploration to engage in a study of prolonged observation, urging them to take in the essence of the self and the other.

"Horizon" is a meditation on the limitless facets of an individual, akin to the vast expanse of a horizon. The performance unfolds as a journey into the boundless of presence and movement, where every gesture becomes a dance and digital canvas of infinity.

The project ingeniously crafts an environment that envelops the audience in a gentle embrace, facilitating a seamless immersion into the act of observing and absorbing. It encourages a soft, gradual process of taking in and taking on, allowing participants to commune with their own perceptions of the unknown. It becomes space for introspection, a prompt to connect with the infinite dimensions of their existence and the mystery and unknown that lies within.

"Horizon" is a transformative experience that blurs the boundaries between observer and observed, self and other. Through its detailed, subtle and embodied approach to movement and presence, the project challenges conventional notions of temporality and offers a unique opportunity for individuals to dwell in the beauty of sustained contemplation, ultimately creating a shared study into the human vastness.

“Live video feed of the performers’ bodies, augmenting the space in multiple visual dimensions, creating the sensation of an ever-changing, breathing horizon, like watching the moment of dusk before darkness.”
